What's interesting about The Son of Kong is how much full size rear screen projection is used. This movie was ahead of George Lucas and his green screen/artificial sets filmmaking by several decades....

The armatures look very different in the way they are built. The one on the right has a very short thigh to lower leg ratio. Same with the upper and lower arm, too. And the one in the newspaper ad...

The armature on the right in picture is Mighty Joe Young. You can see the mechinism in jaw used to open and close mouth. Quite different than in the Kong puppet.
